Interactive Presentations & Author Visits

Available in-person or virtually for schools (K–12), colleges, book clubs, and community groups.

Whether you are looking for an engaging school assembly, a focused creative writing masterclass, or a hands-on workshop, I offer customized sessions tailored to your group's age level and learning goals.

AUTHOR TALKS & CAREER PRESENTATIONS

(Ideal for Assemblies, Keynotes, & Class Visits)

  • My Journey as an Author (Grades 3–12 / Adults): An inspiring look at how I started writing, the inspiration behind my books, and key lessons from my career. Includes a short dramatic reading and an open Q&A session.
  • Writing & Publishing Today (Grades 6–12 / Adults): A "Career Day" overview detailing the publishing industry, self-publishing vs. traditional publishing, and daily life as a professional author.
  • Featured Book Spotlight & Q&A (Grades 3–12 / Adults): A deep-dive into one of my books, including writing insights, a dramatic reading, and interactive trivia with prizes.

CREATIVE WRITING WORKSHOPS & LESSONS

(Ideal for English/Language Arts Classes)

  • Custom Curriculum-Aligned Workshops (Grades 2–12): I collaborate with teachers and tailor interactive workshops to align with current curriculum goals and reinforce what students are learning in class, including specific writing skills and literary elements.
  • Examples of Past Custom Topics: Building narrative tension and pacing, mastering sensory details and world-building, developing character arcs.
  • General Writing Skills (Grades 3–12 / Adults): Learn how to outline a story beforehand, deepen character development, strengthen settings, practice “showing vs telling”, improve word choice, etc.
  • Story Prewriting & Plot Outlining (Grades 1–12 / Adults): Teaches the importance of organizing ideas before drafting, using a structured pre-writing method. Students will prepare to write a story of their own (in longer workshops, they may have time to actually write it)
  • Intensive Novel-Preparation Masterclass (Grades 6–12 / Adults aspiring to write their first novel): Designed for aspiring authors (students, faculty, or parents) preparing to write their first novel. Participants walk away with a solid plot outline, developed characters, and the tools needed to begin drafting. (This workshop takes 2-3 hours.)

SPECIALTY & HANDS-ON WORKSHOPS

  • Poetry Reading and Writing (Grades 1–12): Students write original poetry, practice reading their work aloud, and explore themes from my published poetry collections.
  • Behind the Scenes: Graphic Design & Puzzle Books (Grades K–12 / Adults): Explores the design process behind creating word art and word puzzle coloring books using specialty fonts. Includes free sample coloring pages for all participants. (A simplified version of this workshop is available as a presentation for younger students).
  • Fantasy Cooking Demonstration (Grades 2–12 / Adults): In small groups, students assemble and taste creative recipes from my fantasy-themed cookbook of easy oatmeal recipes, like Unicorn's Delight or Wizard's Purple Potion.

FOR PARENTS & EDUCATORS

  • Publishing Student Work (Adults): A step-by-step guide showing teachers or parents how to compile, format, and self-publish an anthology of student writing or artwork, featuring real-world examples from past student poetry collections.
